Santa Monica: City of Firsts is at the forefront of "Lean & Green Living"
Keeping green and sustainable, Santa Monica continues to progress towards a more eco-friendly city. With restaurants going green such as Rustic Canyon and Abode to businesses and organizations like Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Ambrose Hotel. The city has also implemented a clean air initiative through a no-smoking ordinance and has issued a no-styrofoam policy for restaurants serving to go items. Even public transportation in Santa Monica is kind to the environment. Paving the way is Big Blue Bus with newer state-of-the-art technology and cleaner burning fuel with a fleet of 210 buses, 43 percent of the fleet is fueled by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) which is 77% cleaner burning than diesel-fueled buses.
